Course Amendments

Making changes to your course date, venue or delegate.

We understand that things don’t always go to plan, and you may need to amend your course date, venue or delegate. The information below outlines what can be changed, how to request it, and any fees that may apply, as agreed at the time of booking. We aim to be clear and fair, while making sure places on our courses are used effectively.

Transfer fees

The amount you pay depends on how much notice you give before your course starts:

More than 1 month before the course date

  • No transfer fee
  • No charge for the new course

14 days to 1 month before the course date

  • Pay 25% of your original course fee
  • Pay the full price of your new course

Less than 14 days before the course date

  • Pay 50% of your original course fee
  • Pay the full price of your new course

On or after the course date

  • Pay 100% of your original course fee
  • Pay the full price of your new course

Can I change my course date or location?

Yes. You can request to move your booking to another date or venue, subject to availability. Please contact our team with your booking details and preferred option.

Will I be charged to change my course?

Changes may be subject to a TRANSFER or CANCELLATION FEE, depending on when the request is made. We will always confirm this with you before processing any change.

Can I transfer my place to someone else?

Yes. You can transfer your place to another person before the course date without any additional fees.

How do I cancel my course?

To cancel your booking, you’ll need to contact our Customer Service Team with your booking reference. Cancellations may be subject to a CANCELLATION FEE, depending on your booking terms.

Will I get a refund if I cancel?

Refunds are not always available and depend on your booking and timing. In some cases, refunds are only provided where St John Ambulance cancels the course.

Why are there cancellation or transfer fees?

As a charity and not for profit organisation, the income from our training supports our wider work in communities. Late changes or cancellations mean we are often unable to fill that place, which impacts funding for our services. We aim to keep this fair while protecting the sustainability of our courses.

What happens if I miss my course?

If you do not attend your course, the FULL COURSE FEE will still apply, as your place has already been reserved and cannot be reused. The course correspondence is email at the time of booking, if this has not been received the full course fee will still apply.

What happens if I arrive late?

Due to regulatory training requirements, you must attend the full course. If you arrive:

• More than 15 minutes late for a 4-hour course, or
• More than 35 minutes late for longer courses.

You will not be able to complete the course, and the FULL COURSE FEE will still apply to rebook.

What if I am ill or can’t attend?

Please contact us as soon as possible. Terms still apply, but we will review requests where possible depending on the circumstances if you are able to provide a Medical Note.

I booked the wrong course, what should I do?

When booking, you are responsible for selecting the correct course. If you think you’ve booked the wrong one, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll check what options are available. Fees may apply to make a change.

What if I haven’t completed my pre-course learning?

Some courses include online or blended learning that must be completed before attending. If this has not been completed, or the incorrect course completed, you will not be able to take part, and standard transfer fees may still apply.

What if I have a health condition that prevents me from taking part?

We can offer a name change to the existing booking without additional fee. Usual terms may apply if we need to change the date/venue.
