Product Description

This four-day course, delivered by Turret Training, provides advanced pre-hospital care skills for individuals who may be first on scene at serious incidents. The curriculum meets the competencies set out in the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (PHEM) framework and is ideal for high-risk environments.

The course combines theory and practical training to prepare delegates for managing life-threatening emergencies. Topics include airway management, catastrophic bleeding control, trauma interventions, and the treatment of major illnesses.

The FAST curriculum is aligned with the UK PHEM Matrix at Level C / Level D/E and has successfully passed the “equivalence test” with the SIA. Additionally, this course complies with all UK FAW and HSE regulations from 1981.

The FAST course equips attendees with essential First Aid & Specialist Trauma skills, making it ideal for those working in public-facing roles, hospitality, security, Public Accessible Venues, and alongside NHS healthcare professionals. WHAT IS 'CLASSIC' LEARNING?
This learning style combines classroom-based theory with practical hands-on exercises and requires delegates to attend in person alongside a group of learners. This format benefits those who prefer interactive sessions with opportunities to ask questions, practise techniques, and learn directly from experienced instructors.

FAST is delivered by trainers from Turret Training in partnership with SJA.

Course Requirements

The FAST course is a higher-level qualification than a standard First Aid at Work course. Previous first aid experience or training is therefore highly recommended before completing the FAST qualification.
Delegates must:

  • Be aged 18 or older
  • Have a basic command of English (defined as Level 2)
  • Complete all course modules
  • Act professionally and appropriately in line with our HEART values
  • Be physically capable of taking part in an intensive practical training environment throughout the full four-day course. Delegates will be required to regularly stand, kneel, move between scenarios, perform CPR, and participate in casualty handling exercises during realistic trauma simulations.
  • Understand that the course contains realistic trauma-based training designed to prepare delegates for serious real-world incidents. This includes the use of graphic medical imagery, casualty simulation, scenario-based learning, and video content featuring severe injuries, catastrophic bleeding, and life-threatening emergencies for educational purposes. Delegates should be comfortable engaging with this material as part of their professional development and operational readiness.

*If you require any reasonable adjustments for your course, we will do all we can to facilitate your needs. Please contact our Customer Services team in advance of your course.

Certification & Assessments

Successful learners will receive a Level 3 Award in First Response e-Certificate following submission of results and verification by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

This award is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, ideal for individuals looking to work or volunteer in high-risk or remote environments.

Assessment comprises:

  • Extended trauma practical assessment
  • Viva (Q&A) assessment
  • External assessor visits to assess candidates during the course and practical assessments
