The St John Ambulance HEART Two semi-automatic defibrillator is the second in the line-up of St John Ambulance AEDs; having all the capabilities of the HEART One, while offering an even richer guidance experience for the rescuer.
Perhaps the most notable difference is the upgrade in its display. The HEART Two touts a 5-inch LCD bright colour display, showing animated illustrations and text prompts to complement the voice instructions. This greatly benefits the rescuer, whether they are in a loud or quiet environment, as they can take advantage of the audio and visual coaching. Meanwhile, visual and audible indicators help to monitor the status of the main device, electrodes, and the battery.
To maximise accessibility, the HEART Two can be configured with up to 3 languages that can be seamlessly toggled with a language button. Once pressed, the guidance on the screen will be instantly changed to accommodate the rescuer — key for bilingual communities or international workplaces.
As well as its accessibility capabilities, this AED is future ready. With a USB port and Bluetooth integration, administrators can configure it to report its status to a web portal. Additionally, the HEART series has the infrastructure if remote monitoring is required, compatible with Rotaid and AIVIA.
A true value-for-money defibrillator, the cost per day works out to £0.39 (excluding VAT). This is based on the 8-year warranty period (including two leap years) and covers an extra set of pads as well as a replacement battery that will be needed during that time.
Given the differences between HEART One and HEART Two, they still share the exact same battery and electrode pads as well. No need to worry about different accessories, even when rescuing a layperson. The SMART pads can be used on both adults and children, while the rescuer can press one button to activate child mode and safely treat a child under 8 years old.
