Like any safety equipment, evacuation chairs require maintenance. In fact, they are class 1 Medical Devices (MDR EU 2017/745) and are advised to be inspected on an annual basis. This Evacuation Chair Maintenance package is a one-off service for your powered (motorised, battery-operated) evacuation chair, and covers a full, professional inspection by a certified service engineer at your convenience. It is highly recommended for businesses, schools, healthcare providers, public buildings and any other organisation responsible for safely evacuating mobility-impaired individuals.
In line with the PUWER Regulations (1998) and the UK Fire Safety Regulations (2022), a 28-point inspection will take place, examining the structural integrity of your equipment, as well as operational performance, textiles, wheels, battery, signage and safety components. The engineer will assist you in meeting the requirements for your premises and will visit at an agreed date and time, with all of the tools necessary to complete the service. Where needed, belts, components and safety-critical parts will be replaced using approved materials.
Once the service has been completed, you will receive a detailed certificate of inspection for your records, outlining scores, flagged items, engineer notes and required actions. In addition, your equipment will be marked with an inspection sticker.
