This Sharps Training Course provides essential knowledge on the dangers associated with sharps, including the health risks, handling procedures, and correct disposal techniques required to prevent injuries and infections in the workplace. It also covers The Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) Regulations 2013 and teaches learners about available PPE to minimise exposure risks. This course is delivered in 40 languages and is 15 minutes long, offering fast and effective compliance training.

Course Sections:

  • What Are Sharps? This section explains what qualifies as a sharp — any object with a point or edge capable of cutting or puncturing skin. It highlights risks, real‑world scenarios, and common sharps used in medical and non‑medical environments such as syringes, lancets, auto-injectors, infusion sets, and more. Learners are taught best practices for minimising risk.
  • Preventing the Spread of Infections Focused on prevention, this module teaches safe working practices to avoid sharps injuries entirely. It emphasises employer risk assessments, workplace procedures, and infection‑control techniques to protect staff and reduce transmission of bloodborne pathogens.
