The Emergency First Aid at Work is delivered by St John Ambulance’s experienced trainers, combining real-world insight with hands-on learning.
St John Ambulance is a leading UK charity with over 140 years of experience in first aid education, trusted by thousands of organisations nationwide.
We won't just tell you about first aid. We'll give you the confidence to deliver first aid when and where its needed.

Our 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course gives learners the essential skills and confidence to respond when someone becomes ill or injured in the workplace. This course is available through classroom or blended learning and is particularly suited to nominated first aiders in smaller, lower-risk workplaces where an employer’s first aid needs assessment identifies emergency-level training as appropriate.

Training goes beyond theory alone. Through hands-on practice, realistic workplace scenarios and continuous feedback from expert trainers, learners build their knowledge and practical skills progressively throughout the course. This approach helps them to develop the confidence to assess an emergency, make decisions and provide first aid when it matters the most.

Learners develop essential workplace first aid skills, including CPR, using a defibrillator, helping an adult who is choking, responding to seizures and shock, and controlling life-threatening bleeding. The course is HSE-compliant and helps organisations meet their workplace first aid responsibilities, while supporting the charitable mission of St John Ambulance.

Upon completion, first aiders are covered by ‘Good Samaritan’ insurance for the duration of their qualification, giving them added reassurance when providing first aid outside of the workplace.
