We won't just tell you about first aid. We'll give you the confidence to deliver first aid when and where its needed.

This one-day course equips school staff with the essential skills to manage common injuries and medical emergencies involving pupils. It is designed to help schools meet their duty of care and provide a safe environment for students.

Our Schools First Aid course focuses on practical techniques for treating injuries and responding to emergencies that can occur in a school setting. Delegates will learn how to handle situations such as asthma attacks, allergic reactions, fractures, and head injuries, as well as CPR and defibrillator use.

This course is ideal for teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff who want to feel confident in providing first aid when needed. Upon completion, delegates receive a St John Ambulance certificate valid for three years.

The Schools First Aid Course will cover first aid procedures pertinent to a school environment:

  • The role of the first aider
  • Adult resuscitation (CPR)*

  • Communication and casualty care
  • Seizures
  • Choking child
  • Allergic reaction

This learning style is entirely classroom based and requires you to attend in person with a group of other delegates. This benefits those who prefer interactive sessions with the opportunity to ask questions to the instructor.

This one day Schools First Aid Course will give your staff a good knowledge of first aid to cover common risks for school students.

  • Delegates must be aged 18 or older to attend this course.
  • Delegates need a basic command of English (defined as Level 2).
  • Delegates must complete all modules.
  • Delegates must act in a professional and appropriate manner, in line with our HEART values.
  • You need to be physically fit enough to be able to demonstrate CPR*

CERTIFICATION
Delegates who successfully complete this Schools First Aid Course will receive a St John Ambulance certificate of competence on completion of the course, valid for 3 years.

It is ideal for supplementing your statutory First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work training.

ASSESSMENT
Delegates will have continuous trainer observation during this course, and must demonstrate their understanding and competence on all course subjects.

Our training includes 'Good Samaritan Insurance', giving delegates the confidence to help whenever and wherever it is needed. It covers them against claims arising from first aid they deliver outside of their workplace, club or association, and not covered by any other insurance.

To qualify, they must hold a current St John Ambulance certificate for this course. It is offered at no extra charge, as we are so confident in the standards of our first aid training delivery.
