The First Aid at Work is delivered by St John Ambulance’s experienced trainers, combining real-world insight with hands-on learning.
St John Ambulance is a leading UK charity with over 140 years of experience in first aid education, trusted by thousands of organisations nationwide.
We won't just tell you about first aid. We'll give you the confidence to deliver first aid when and where its needed.

Our 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) course gives people the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to respond when first aid is needed. Suitable for people who need to become first aiders in a wide range of workplace environments, it meets the standards required to help employers comply with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

Training goes beyond theory alone. Through hands-on practice, repeated practice, realistic workplace scenarios and continuous feedback from expert trainers, learners build their skills progressively throughout the course. This practical approach helps them develop confidence, strengthen decision-making under pressure and prepare to act in real workplace emergencies.

Learners develop a comprehensive range of workplace first aid skills, including performing CPR, using a defibrillator, responding to choking, treating burns and fractures, and controlling life-threatening bleeding using nationally agreed best practice. The course provides HSE-compliant training and is informed by over 150 years of St John Ambulance first aid expertise.

FAW is suitable for sectors such as construction, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, office-based workplaces and education. Explore classroom, blended and on-site delivery options to find the right format for your organisation.

Upon completion, first aiders are covered by ‘Good Samaritan’ insurance for the duration of their qualification, giving them added reassurance when providing first aid outside of the workplace.

Every booking also supports our charitable mission to put the power of first aid into everybody’s hands.

This option minimises time away from the workplace, while maintaining the same, high-standard of learning.

This will be 2 days of face to face training where you will be in a small group with fellow blended course mates. The day will be led by a specialist trainer who will teach you about the essential lifesaving skills required for your qualification. Throughout the day you will take part in small group activities, practicing essential lifesaving skills and have the chance to ask your trainer any questions. You will also complete a small number of practical and written assessments, this will include assessment on your online training topics.
